Senior Ecologist wanted to join our Scotland Team

Ellendale Environmental have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Ecologist in Scotland. We are an established team with a busy workload and have great aspirations to grow.  We are looking for a Senior Ecologist to lead our ecology surveys, to manage our existing client relationships and to develop business. Whilst our team office is in Edinburgh, we are flexible on location for the right person and salary would be negotiable based on experience.

 A successful candidate for this role will typically have:

  • Experience in a senior role within a consultancy setting, typically 3 – 5 years’ experience

  • Protected species survey licence(s) – preferable, but not essential (as training can be provided)

  • Experience in wildlife mitigation design, and having previously acted as Named Ecologist on NatureScot mitigation licences – again, preferable, but not essential

  • Excellent species ID skills, including botanical (i.e. Phase 1 habitat surveys)

  • In-depth understanding of current legislation, policy and industry best practice

  • Excellent communication, reporting and organisational skills

  • Experience of managing the work of other ecologists

  • Project management experience

  • A full UK driving licence as there will be regular travel to sites across Scotland and the rest of the UK

 The role will suit someone who:

  • Is keen to get involved in all aspects of a project, from tendering, client liaison, surveying and reporting, and where required, long-term monitoring

  • Enjoys working as part of a team, but can also work independently and remotely

  • Is happy to travel to project sites throughout the UK and can stay away where this is required

  • Can undertake a number of surveys types and perform an ECoW role on a range of projects
