Ecologist wanted! 

 

Salary in the range of £22,000 - £27,000 per annum depending on experience 

 

We have an established team with great aspirations based in Edinburgh and are looking for an Ecologist to join our busy team. Our projects include major infrastructure developments including roads, rail, gas, and electricity, as well as small-scale and private developments. We’re looking for an ecologist to join our team and support our surveys, helping us with our existing client relationships and developing new ones. 

 

The role will suit someone who:

  • is keen to get involved in all aspects of a project, from tendering, client liaison, surveying, and reporting, and where required, long-term monitoring.

  • enjoys working as part of a team and remotely; and

  • is looking to undertake a number of survey types and as an Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) on a range of projects.

 

The role will involve:

  • undertaking a range of ecology surveys;

  • preparation of a range of environmental reports;

  • project management and client liaison;

  • acting as ECoW on construction sites providing advice on ecological and environmental aspects of the project; and

  • an opportunity to work across the country on a range of projects. 

 

We are keen to employ the right person, but a successful candidate will typically have:

  • Species ID skills, preferably including botanical (Phase 1 habitat survey);

  • An understanding of current legislation, policy, and industry best practice;

  • Good communication, reporting and organisational skills; and

  • A full driving licence, as there will be regular travel to site(s).
